Peppermint (Mentha piperita)

  Peppermint is used for calming the nervous stomach and ridding the body of gas pains.   Peppermint is also good for ending the nausea that accompanies an upset stomach.

Peppermint oil or tea is often used to calm a nervous condition, insomnia, cramps, an coughs.   It is very good for cramps and migraine headaches.

Cautions:
  • If Tea is taken more than 8 to 12 days in a row heart problems could develop.

Usual Method of Prep Usual Dosage
Tea:
1 to 3 tsp leaves to
1 cup boiling water
Steep
Take:
1 and 1/2 to 2 cups a day. for 6 or 7 days in a row.
Oil:
Purchase
Take:
2 or 3 drops on a sugar cube w/ hot (regular) tea.
For gas pains:
Take 1 or 2 drops in half glass of water.
Tincture:
Best purchased
Take:
10 to 50 drops depending on age and severity of pain.
